The Growing Flower Magic Trick

This trick is performed with a wide-mouthed jar which is about 10 in. high. If an earthern jar of this kind is not at hand, use a glass fruit jar and cover it with black cloth or paper, so the contents cannot be seen.

Flower Grows Instantly

Two pieces of wire are bent as shown in Fig. 1 and put together as in Fig. 2.
These wires are put in the jar, about one-third the way down from the top, with the circle centrally located.
The wires can be held in place by carefully bending the ends, or using small wedges of wood.

Cut a wire shorter in length than the height of the jar and tie a rose or several flowers on one end.
Put a cork in the bottom of the jar and stick the opposite end of the wire from where the flowers are tied through the circle of the two wires and into the cork.
The dotted lines in Fig. 3 show the position of the wires and flowers.

To make the flowers grow in an instant, pour water into the jar at one side of the wide mouth.
The cork will float and carry the wire with the flowers attached upward, causing the flowers to grow, apparently, in a few seconds time.
Do not pour in too much water to raise the flowers so far that the wire will be seen.

Fragrant Foliage

If you’ve ever brushed against a scented-leaved Pelargonium like the one above (or any other fragrant-leaved plant) and noticed the scent, here’s where that fragrance is actually stored. The leaves are covered in fine pointed hairs (second photo from bottom) but scattered amongst them there are two other kinds of hair – short (third from bottom) and tall (fourth photo from bottom). At higher magnification (top photo) you can see the oily fragrance compounds stored in the bulbous cell at the tip of the hairs, that are released when the hairs are damaged. These fragrance chemicals are a key part of the plant’s defence system against insects and are secretions that either make the leaf too sticky for small insects to move around or repel them, but commercially they are of immense importance in the fragrance industry. Many of those scents that saturate the air around the perfume counter in department stores contained chemical compounds distilled from the ‘gunk’ that you can see in these plant hair tips. Perhaps the most extraordinary is labdanum, which is stored in the sticky hairs of Cretan rock roses (Cistus species). Tradionally, this was once collected by scraping it off the fur of goats that grazed amongst the Cistus shrubs on Cretan hillsides. You can read about it at http://botano.gr/herbs-and-spices/cistus-creticus-labdanum.html

Getting a Grip

The colour of a flower is the result of a combination of the floral pigments contained in the petal cells and the optical characteristics of the cells themselves, which is why the colour of flowers in photographs doesn’t always correspond exactly with what the eye sees. The cells walls act like lenses, bending and scattering light rays, producing optical effects that combine with the floral pigment colours to produce unique hues, so even a brick red geranium flower shows a bluish tinge from certain angles (bottom picture). These photos show the cells on the surface of a geranium (Pelargonium) petal, which in surface view look like a patchwork blanket, with the patches stitched together (second picture from bottom x100). A side-on view reveals that each cell is actually shaped like a small hill, and that the ‘stitches’ are really pleats (third picture from bottom x100 and fourth picture from bottom x200). The conical cells are typical of many petal surfaces of flowers visited by insects. So why are they this shape? Their lens-like properties contribute to flower colours but their shape and surface texture seems to have evolved to give the claws of pollinating insects like bees (top picture x100) something to grip. By the clever use of mutant forms of snapdragon that have flat, smooth petal surface cells rather than conical ones, Dr. Beverley Glover at Cambridge University’s Department of Plant Sciences has shown that bees avoid smooth petal surfaces because it’s difficult for their claws to grip them and gain enough purchase to force their tongues into the flower. So ultimately it’s the necessity of giving insects a foothold that has produced petal cells with optical properties that add complexity and subtlety to flower colours. Theres more about Dr. Glovers research in this web site http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8049954.stm

TOP 10 FAVOURITE SONGS WESTERN MUSIC ALL GENRES 2014 PART 3

The last two posts of these series posts are here and here. This is the last post of the series as here I will be adding the next four songs.

US AND THEM

Absorbing song.I remember the first time I listened to this. This was my first proper impression of Pink Floyd, the first song I listened to was Another Brick In the Wall (Part 1) followed by this. And I was in a complete realm of the thing.I thought about it for hours.Especially the last line left me hard stricken - "For the price of a tea and a slice, the old man died!".I could speak of nothing else for a day or two.The tune is good, instrumentals are even better,Lyrics is bravo, voice is David Gilmour (No more adjectives necessary).Lyrics here.

Us and Them - The First Impression of Floyd to me

THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD (Origianlly written by David Bowie)

This one is truly one of the best songs I have ever heard, keeping in mind the Kurt Cobain impact.I am not as big a fan of Nirvana as I am of Pink Floyd but Cobain definitely had potential. Lyrics and Perspectives here. You know, just it immediately instigated all my thoughts about the stars, this universe, souls, origin and everything of that sort. You have to love this song - its so much unique. The instrumentals are okay with a regular but attractive tune and the lyrics are just out of the world.

Kurt Cobain Performing The Man Who Sold The World

SPEED OF SOUND (From Soundtrack To The End)

I know you might not have heard about the song or the band. But I personally like them a lot. Its from Communist Daughter(Again,Thanks Houston Communist Party for introducing this) and recently they even liked my status on their wall on their Facebook Page! Elation and pleasure.I like the way they move through North America - watching, just WATCHING Bohemian life is feel-good to me.The Lyrics are great - just great. It almost got me off balance when I got them for the first time. The tune is not so special and the instrumentals are okay(I like Mollys harmony, anyway.) - the concern is the lyrics.Must listen at least once.

Soundtrack To The End Album Cover

KNOCKIN ON HEAVENS DOOR

As per I have heard, this song was written by Che Guevara himself. And I personally prefer the Guns N Roses Version (I dont understand this band politically .What are they - right-wings extremist or anarchist or socialist,I dont know.)You can listen to the Bob Dylan version as well as he was the first one to compose the tune and get this into form of a song. Lyrics here. Please note that the last rap is added by Guns N Roses, its not there in the original version.I have a lot of emotions attached with this song.

BIOLOGICAL METHOD

Science is a systematized knowledge. Like other sciences, biological sciences also have a set methodology. It is based on experimental inquiry. It always begins with chance observation. Observations are made with five senses viz, vision, hearing, smell, taste and touch, depending upon their functional ability. Observations can both be qualitative and quantitative. Quantitative observations have accuracy over qualitative as in the former variables are measurable and are recorded in terms of numbers. An observer organizes observations into data form and gives a statement as per experience and background knowledge of the event. This statement is the hypothesis, which is tentative explanation of observations. At this stage you should look at the ways of devising hypothesis. There are two ways of formulating hypothesis. A hypothesis can be the result of deductive reasoning or it can be the consequence of inductive reasoning.

Deductive Reasoning:

Deductive reasoning moves from the general to the specific. It involves drawing specific conclusion from some general principle/assumptions. Deductive logic of "if   then" is frequently used to frame testable hypothesis. For example, if we accept that all birds have wings (premise # 1), and that sparrows are birds (premise # 2), then we conclude that sparrows have wings. If all green plants require sunlight for photosynthesis, then any green plant when placed in dark would not synthesize glucose, the end product of photosynthesis. The other way of reasoning used in the formulation of hypothesis is inductive reasoning which is reasoning from the specific to the general. It begins with specific observations, and leads to the formation of general principle. For instance, if we know that sparrows have wings and are birds, and we know that eagle, parrot, hawk, crow are birds, then we induce (draw conclusion) that all birds have wings. The science also, therefore, uses inductive methods to generalize from specific events. In fact sometimes scientists also use other ways to form a hypothesis which may include:

  • (1) Intuition or imagination.
  • (2) Esthetic preference.
  • (3) Religious or philosophical ideas.
  • (4) Comparison and analogy with other processes.
  • (5) Discovery of one thing while looking for some other thing.

These ways can also sometimes form basis for scientific hypothesis. Hypotheses as you already know are subjected to rigorous testing.

Repeated exposure of a hypothesis to possible falsification increases scientists confidence in the hypothesis when it is not falsified. Any hypothesis that is tested again and again without ever being falsified is considered well supported and is generally accepted. This may be used as the basis for formulating further hypothesis. So there is soon a series of hypotheses supported by the results of many tests which is then called a theory. A good theory is predictive and has explanatory power. One of the most important features of a good theory is that it may suggest new and different hypotheses. A theory of this kind is called Productive.

However, even in the case of productive theory the testing goes on. In fact many scientists take it as a challenge and exert even greater efforts to disprove the theory. If a theory survives this skeptical approach and continues to be supported by experimental, it becomes a scientific law. A scientific law is a uniform or constant fact of nature.

Examples of biological laws are Hardy-Weinberg law and Mendle’s law of inheritance.

Concussion definition symptoms treatment

Concussion is an injury to a part of the body resulting from a blow or from a violent shaking.
Concussion usually refers to an injury to the brain, which is commonly caused by a head injury. It may also result from a fall in which the point of impact is the lower end of the spine.

Symptoms of brain concussion

The symptoms of brain concussion vary according to the site and extent of the injury. Brain concussion usually, but not always, produces unconsciousness.
The return to consciousness often occurs gradually. Following the initial injury, there may be headache, difficulty in concentrating, nausea, vomiting, difficulty in focusing, and a feeling of depression and irritability.
Events immediately before the injury may be forgotten at first (retrograde amnesia), but the memory of them usually returns.

Brain concussion treatment

A physician should be consulted in all cases of concussion because there may be more serious brain damage.
Bed rest is essential for at least a day after the injury.
The physician may prescribe painkillers to relieve the headache.
Alcohol, sedatives, and tranquilizers may aggravate the symptoms.
The patient should avoid sports and work until he or she is completely recovered.

What are the signs of a concussion when observing a person?

The key sign is level of consciousness.
Is the person conscious?
Can the person be aroused?
Other signs worth observing include unequally dilated pupils, an inability to feel or move some body part, or persistent vomiting.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears An English Folk Tale

Once upon a time there were three Bears who lived in a little house in the woods.

There was a Great Big Father Bear with a great big voice, and a Middle-Sized Mother Bear with a middle-sized voice, and a Little Wee Baby Bear with a little wee voice.

One morning the three Bears had porridge for breakfast.

The Mother Bear said, “This porridge is too hot to eat. Let us go for a walk until it cools.’

So the three Bears went for a walk in the woods.

While they were gone, along came a little girl named Goldilocks.

Seeing the little house, she wondered who lived there, so she knocked at the door. No one answered, so she knocked again. Still no one answered, so Goldilocks opened the door and walked in.

There before her, in the little room, she-saw a table set for three.

There was a great big bowl of porridge, a middle-sized bowl of porridge, and a little wee bowl of porridge.

She tasted the great big bowl of porridge. “Oh, this is too hot!” she said.

Then she tasted the middle-sized bowl of porridge.

“Oh, this is too cold!”

Then she tasted the little wee bowl of porridge.

“Oh, this is just right!” she said, and ate it all up.

She went into another room.

There she saw three chairs.

There was a great big chair, a middle-sized chair, and a little wee chair. Goldilocks sat down in the great big chair.

“Oh, this is too hard!” she said.

Then she sat down in the middle-sized chair. “Oh, this is too soft!”

Then she sat in the little wee chair.

“Oh, this is just right!”

But even as she said this, the chair broke.

Then she went into another room.

There she saw three beds.

There was a great big bed, and a middle-sized bed, and a little wee bed.

Goldilocks lay down on the great big bed.

“Oh, this is too hard!” she said.

Then she tried the middle-sized bed.

“Oh, this is too soft!”

Then she tried the little wee bed.

“Oh, this is just right!” she sighed. And pulling Up the covers, she fell fast asleep.

By this time, the three Bears thought their porridge would be cool enough, so they returned from their walk in the woods.

When the Great Big Father Bear saw a spoon in his porridge bowl, he said in his great big voice:

“Someone has been eating my porridge!”

When the Middle-Sized Mother Bear saw a spoon in her porridge bowl, she said in her middle-sized voice:

“Someone has been eating my porridge!”

And the Little Wee Baby Bear, seeing a spoon in his porridge bowl, said in his little wee voice:

“Someone has been eating my porridge and has eaten it all up”

Then the three Bears went into the next room.

When the Great Big Father Bear saw that the cushion on his chair was out of place, he said in his great big voice:

“Someone has been sitting in my chair!”

When the Middle-Sized Mother Bear saw that the cushion on her chair was all pushed in, she said in her middle-sized voice:

“Someone has been sitting in my chair!”

And the Little Wee Baby Bear took one look at his chair and cried in his little wee voice:

“Someone has been sitting in my chair and broken the seat!”

Then the three Bears went into their bedroom. As soon as the Great Big Father Bear saw the wrinkled blankets on his bed, he said in his great big voice:

“Someone has been lying on my bed!”

When the Middle-Sized Mother Bear saw that the spread on her bed was pulled back, she said in her middle-sized voice:

“Someone has been lying on my bed!”

And when the Little Wee Baby Bear looked at his bed, he cried in his little wee voice:

“Someone has been lying on my bed—and there she is!”

Now Goldilocks was sleeping so soundly, the great big voice of the Great Big Father Bear was only like the roaring of the wind.

And the middle-sized voice of the Middle-Sized Mother Bear was like someone speaking in a dream. But the little wee voice of the Little Wee Baby Bear was so sharp and shrill it woke her up at once.

When she saw the three Bears looking at her, she leaped from the bed, ran across the room, and jumped out of the low window. Then she ran through the woods as fast as ever her legs could carry her.

Whatever happened to her, I do not know, but the three Bears never saw her again.

What are the Five Senses The Human Body for Kids

Sense organs are specially developed parts of your body.
For example, each of your eyes has a retina for detecting light.
And each of your ears has a cochlea for detecting sounds.

Can you name the “five senses”?

Try to name them before reading further.
These senses send information to the brain.
There are special parts in the brain that sort out this information.
It is then passed to other parts of the brain, which can compare information from different sense organs. Your brain then signals what you are:

  • seeing,
  • hearing,
  • smelling,
  • tasting, and
  • touching.

These five senses allow you to know what is in your physical environment.
What are the Five Senses?

The hidden senses

Another set of senses, of which you are unaware of most of the time, helps control your inner organs.
These senses control the timing and movement of food through your body.
They measure the amount of sugar and salt in your blood.
They regulate the amount of oxygen that’s taken in.
Your body temperature and the fullness of your bladder are also under the control of these senses.
Without your awareness, your body is always receiving messages from your hidden senses.
They keep all these basic processes, such as breathing and digestion, running smoothly.

THE GUNNERS DREAM THE FINAL CUT LYRICS PERSPECTIVES AND REVIEW

The Gunners Dream Album Cover

"The Gunners Dream" is a song from Pink Floyds 1983 album The Final Cut. This song was one of several to be considered for the bands "best of" album, Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd. The song tells the story and thoughts of a gunner as he falls to his death dreaming of a world without war. It is one of the four songs on the video version of the album The Final Cut Video EP. - (Credit - Wikipedia )

Roger Waters with Eric Clapton : The Gunners Dream

The Lyrics of The Gunners Dream -

Floating down through the clouds
Memories come rushing up to meet me now.
In the space between the heavens
and in the corner of some foreign field
I had a dream.
I had a dream.
Good-bye Max.
Good-bye Ma.
After the service when youre walking slowly to the car
And the silver in her hair shines in the cold November air
You hear the tolling bell
And touch the silk in your lapel
And as the tear drops rise to meet the comfort of the band
You take her frail hand
And hold on to the dream.
"Oi!"
A place to stay
"A real one ..."
Enough to eat
Somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street
Where you can speak out loud
About your doubts and fears
And whats more no-one ever disappears
You never hear their standard issue kicking in your door.
You can relax on both sides of the tracks
And maniacs dont blow holes in bandsmen by remote control
And everyone has recourse to the law
And no-one kills the children anymore.
And no one kills the children anymore.

Night after night
Going round and round my brain
His dream is driving me insane.
In the corner of some foreign field
The gunner sleeps tonight.
Whats done is done.
We cannot just write off his final scene.
Take heed of a dream.
Take heed.

Perspectives On The Song

If I had to crown to albums from Pink Floyd - I would crown Wish You Were Here and The Final Cut.I just wonder how Waters was able to put an entire incident inside a song. (I cant actually call it storyline). The song is just out of the world.I am still in awe. When I review a song,I ensure I myself feel the entire song properly.I put the curtains in my room off and listened to the song for quite a number of times.I just got goosebumps all over when I was listening to the last lines of the first part of the song. And in this Indian summer of June, when there is scorching heat everywhere,I felt cold for a good 2-3 minutes.I seriously cant express how real everything seemed. If I had to put relative images in this post, days would pass......Can you count the number of wars that raged and rages now - at this very moment? And who knows how many million gunners had this same, common dream? The song is a must-have for hard rock fans (For the qualitative value of the song) and for those who have opposed meaningless, idiotic genocides.

Review

The song begins with a similar sound of rushing winds, somewhat similar to what was used in Us and Them (The Wall), initially bringing with it a serious air into the song. This is quite typical of Pink Floyd, with the main guitar very softly ringing in within a crowd, within winds rushing in etc.As you listen to the song,it will seem evident that the initial lines are psychedelic. After the first part, you would begin to realise that the first part was actually a description of a dream, the falling gunners dream. The lyrics are very emotional and the song has a compelling initiative to make you fall in love with it.The line "You take her frail hand" is sung very softly, almost like a whisper just after which is a pause and then rises "And hold on to the dream" on a relatively high note with drum beats from the second-third word from which occurs the entrance of the hard rock, following which the song gets quieter again followed by high notes in the beginning on the second part, thus contrasting the song well and making it an attraction to the ears.In this line in the second part of the song,"His dream is driving me insane"; the word insane has a decelerating symphony (Similar to what was used in Careful With That Axe,Eugene.) - nice touch. The last lines"Take heed of a dream" and "Take heed" are also very softly told - giving the final emotional touch. The song gets the scores -

INSTRUMENTALS - 5/5
MELODY - 5/5

Dune Builder

The photograph at the top of this post shows a cross section of the leaf of marram grass Ammophila arenaria, the grass that’s primarily responsible for trapping wind-blown sand and building the dune systems around our coast that are such important wildlife habitats (bottom photo). Marram grass survives in the arid environment of a sand dune by rolling up its leaves during long periods of drought, so that all the leaves’ breathing pores or stomata (see http://beyondthehumaneye.blogspot.com/search/label/stomata) are inside the rolled leaf, minimising water loss. This cross section of a partially rolled leaf has been stained with fluorescent dyes to light up different cell types within the leaf, with the outside surface of the leaf at the bottom of the picture (smooth, curved surface) and the inner convoluted surface at the top. The outer surface of the leaf at the bottom is composed of a layer of thick walled cells, covered with a thick cuticle to resist wind-blown sand abrasion and this layer also acts like a spring, giving the leaf a natural tendency to roll up under drought conditions. The stomata are hidden on the inner surface of the leaf amongst those stubbly hairs near the bottom of those convolutions – which in the whole leaf are actually ridges and furrows that run along the whole length of the leaf. The clusters of thin-walled blue cells at the base (i.e. in the ‘valleys’) of the furrows of the convolutions are responsible for unrolling the leaf – when it rains and the plant takes up water these thin walled cells inflate like balloons, forcing the leaf to unroll. Other features that you can see in this leaf cross section are the snaking rows of reddish cells which are actually the cells containing most of the chlorophyll, that carry out photosynthesis – in order to make the dyes fluoresce I had to irradiate this leaf section with blue-violet light, which paradoxically makes green chlorophyll fluoresce red. The other distinctive features are the scattered structures that look like ‘smiley faces’ with a pair of large ‘eyes’ with a blue open ‘mouth’ – these are the leaf veins that conduct water and sugars along the leaf – they’re the plant’s internal plumbing system.

ALEXANDER THE GREAT

http://www.e- classics. com/ALEXANDER. htm
A L E X A N D E R"The Great"
(356 -323 B.C.)

A L E X A N D R O S by Plutarch

While in India, Alexander took ten of the Brahmins prisoner. These men had a great reputation for intelligence, so Alexander decided to give them a test. He announced that the one who gave the worst answer would be the first to die, and he made the oldest Brahmin the judge of the competition.

Which are more numerous, Alexander asked the first one, the living or the dead? "The living," said the Brahmin, "because the dead no longer count."

Which produces more creatures, the sea or the land? Alexander asked the second. "The land," was his answer, "because the sea is only a part of it."

The third was asked which animal was the smartest of all, and the Brahmin replied: "The one we have not found yet."

Alexander asked the fourth what argument he had used to stir up the Indians to fight, and he answered: "Only that one should either live nobly or die nobly."

Which is older: day or night? was Alexanders question to the fifth, and the answer he got was: "Day is older, by one day at least." When he saw that Alexander was not satisfied with this answer, the Brahmin added: "Strange questions get strange answers."

What should a man do to make himself loved? asked Alexander, and the sixth Brahmin replied: "Be powerful without being frightening."

What does a man have to do to become a god? he asked the seventh, who responded: "Do what is impossible for a man."

The question to the eighth was whether death or life was stronger, and his answer: "Life is stronger than death, because it bears so many miseries."

The ninth Brahmin was asked how long it was proper for a man to live, and he said: "Until it seems better to die."

Then Alexander turned to the judge, who decided that each one had answered worse than another. "You will die first, then, for giving such a decision," said Alexander. "Not so, mighty king," said the
Brahmin, "if you want to remain a man of your word. You said that you would kill first the one who made the worst answer." Alexander gave all of the Brahmins presents and set them free, even though they had persuaded the Indians to fight him.

Chinese Kite How to Make a Chinese Kite

How to Make and Fly a Chinese Kite

The Chinese boy is not satisfied with simply holding the end of a kite string and running up and down the block or field trying to raise a heavy paper kite with a half pound of rags for a tail.
He makes a kite as light as possible without any tail which has the peculiar property of being able to move in every direction.
Sometimes an expert can make one of these kites travel across the wind for several hundred feet; in fact, I have seen boys a full block apart bring their kites together and engage in a combat until one of their kites floated away with a broken string, or was punctured by the swift dives of the other, and sent to earth, a wreck.

The Chinese boy makes his kite as follows:

From a sheet of thin but tough tissue paper about 20 in. square, which he folds and cuts along the dotted line, as shown in Fig. 1, he gets a perfectly square kite having all the properties of a good flyer, light and strong. He shapes two pieces of bamboo, one for the backbone and one for the bow. The backbone is flat, 1/4 by 3/32 in. and 18 in. long. This he smears along one side with common boiled rice. Boiled rice is one of the best adhesives for use on paper that can be obtained and the Chinese have used it for centuries while we are just waking up to the fact that it makes fine photo paste. Having placed the backbone in position, paste two triangular pieces of paper over the ends of the stick to prevent tearing. The bow is now bent, and the lugs extending from the sides of the square paper are bent over the ends of the bow and pasted down. If the rice is quite dry or mealy it can be smeared on and will dry almost immediately, therefore no strings are needed to hold the bow bent while the paste dries.

Parts of a Chinese Kite

After the sticks are in position the kite will appear as shown in Fig. 2. The dotted lines show the lugs bent over the ends of the bow and pasted down. Figure 3 shows how the band is put on and how the kite is balanced. This is the most important part and cannot be explained very well. This must be done by experimenting and it is enough to say that the kite must balance perfectly. The string is fastened by a slip-knot to the band and moved back and forth until the kite flies properly, then it is securely fastened.

A reel is next made. Two ends—the bottoms of two small peach baskets will do—are fastened to a dowel stick or broom handle, if nothing better is at hand. These ends are placed about 14 in. apart and strips nailed between them as shown in Fig. 4, and the centers drawn in and bound with a string. The kite string used is generally a heavy packing thread. This is run through a thin flour or rice paste until it is thoroughly coated, then it is run through a quantity of crushed glass. The glass should be beaten up fine and run through a fine sieve to make it about the same as No.2 emery. The particles should be extremely sharp and full of splinters. These particles adhere to the pasted string and when dry are so sharp that it cannot be handled without scratching- the fingers, therefore the kite is flown entirely from the reel. To wind the string upon the reel, all that is necessary is to lay one end of the reel stick in the bend of the left arm and twirl the other end between the fingers of the right hand.

A Chinese boy will be flying a gaily colored little kite from the roof of a house (if it be in one of the large cities where they have flat-roofed houses) and a second boy will appear on the roof of another house perhaps 200 ft. away. Both have large reels full of string, often several hundred yards of it. The first hundred feet or so is glass-covered string, the balance, common packing thread, or glass-covered string. As soon as the second boy has his kite aloft, he begins maneuvering to drive it across the wind and over to the first kite. First, he pays out a large amount of string, then as the kite wobbles to one side with its nose pointing toward the first kite, he tightens his line and commences a steady quick pull. If properly done his kite crosses over to the other and above it. The string is now payed out until the second kite is hanging over the first ones line. The wind now tends to take the second kite back to its parallel and in so doing makes a turn about the first kites string. If the second kite is close enough, the first tries to spear him by swift dives. The second boy in the meantime is see-sawing his string and presently the first kites string is cut and it drifts away.

It is not considered sport to haul the other fellows kite down as might be done and therefore a very interesting battle is often witnessed when the experts clash their kites. —Contributed by S. C. Bunker, Brooklyn, N. Y.

Still now, I just have four lyrics in my collection. Going to update this from time to time. You will find this easily on the Music Tab of the blog  here.

Dont Cry

Talk to me softly
Theres something in your eyes
Dont hang your head in sorrow
And please dont cry
I know how you feel inside Ive
Ive been there before
Somethins changin inside you
And dont you know

Dont you cry tonight
I still love you baby
Dont you cry tonight
Dont you cry tonight
Theres a heaven above you baby
And dont you cry tonight

Give me a whisper
And give me a sigh
Give me a kiss before you
tell me goodbye
Dont you take it so hard now
And please dont take it so bad
Ill still be thinkin of you
And the times we had...baby

And dont you cry tonight
Dont you cry tonight
Dont you cry tonight
Theres a heaven above you baby
And dont you cry tonight

And please remember that I never lied
And please remember
how I felt inside now honey
You gotta make it your own way
But youll be alright now sugar
Youll feel better tomorrow
Come the morning light now baby

And dont you cry tonight
An dont you cry tonight
An dont you cry tonight
Theres a heaven above you baby
And dont you cry
Dont you ever cry
Dont you cry tonight
Baby maybe someday
Dont you cry
Dont you ever cry
Dont you cry

Tonight

Patience

1,2,1,2,3,4
[whistle]
Shed a tear cause Im missin you
Im still alright to smile
Girl, I think about you every day now
Was a time when I wasnt sure
But you set my mind at ease
There is no doubt
Youre in my heart now

Said, woman, take it slow
Itll work itself out fine
All we need is just a little patience
Said, sugar, make it slow
And we come together fine
All we need is just a little patience
(patience)
Mm, yeah

I sit here on the stairs
Cause Id rather be alone
If I cant have you right now
Ill wait, dear
Sometimes I get so tense
But I cant speed up the time
But you know, love
Theres one more thing to consider

Said, woman, take it slow
And things will be just fine
You and Ill just use a little patience
Said, sugar, take the time
Cause the lights are shining bright
You and Ive got what it takes
To make it, We wont fake it,
Ill never break it
cause I cant take it

[whistle]
...little patience, mm yeah, mm yeah
need a little patience, yeah
just a little patience, yeah
some more patience, yeah
need some patience, yeah
could use some patience, yeah
gotta have some patience, yeah
all it takes is patience,
just a little patience
is all you need

I BEEN WALKIN THE STREETS AT NIGHT
JUST TRYIN TO GET IT RIGHT
HARD TO SEE WITH SO MANY AROUND
YOU KNOW I DONT LIKE
BEING STUCK IN THE CROWD
AND THE STREETS DONT CHANGE
BUT BABY THE NAME
I AINT GOT TIME FOR THE GAME
CAUSE I NEED YOU
YEAH, YEAH, BUT I NEED YOU
OO, I NEED YOU
WHOA, I NEED YOU
OO, ALL THIS TIME
(ah)

Knockin On Heavens Door (Guns N Roses Version)

Mama take this badge from me
I cant use it anymore
Its getting dark too dark to see
Feels like Im knockin on heavens door

Knock-knock-knockin on heavens door
Knock-knock-knockin on heavens door
Knock-knock-knockin on heavens door
Knock-knock-knockin on heavens door

Mama put my guns in the ground
I cant shoot them anymore
That cold black cloud is comin down
Feels like Im knockin on heavens door

Knock-knock-knockin on heavens door
Knock-knock-knockin on heavens door
Knock-knock-knockin on heavens door
Knock-knock-knockin on heavens door

"YOU JUST BETTER START SNIFFIN YOUR OWN
RANK SUBJUGATION JACK CAUSE ITS JUST
YOU AGAINST YOUR TATTERED LIBIDO, THE BANK
AND THE MORTICIAN, FOREVER MAN AND IT
WOULDNT BE LUCK IF YOU COULD GET OUT OF
LIFE ALIVE"

Knock-knock-knockin on heavens door

You Could Be Mine

Im a cold heartbreaker
Fit ta burn and Ill rip
your heart in two
An Ill leave you lyin on the bed
Ill be out the door before ya wake
Its nuthin new ta you
Cause I think weve seen that movie too

Cause you could be mine
But youre way out of line
With your bitch slap rappin
And your cocaine tongue
You get nuthin done
I said you could be mine

Now holidays come and then they go
Its nothin new today
Collect another memory
When I come home late at night
Dont ask me where Ive been
Just count your stars
Im home again

Cause you could be mine
But youre way out of line
With your bitch slap rappin
And your cocaine tongue
You get nuthin done
I said you could be mine

Youve gone sketchin too many times
Why dont ya give it a rest
Why
Must you find
Another reason to cry

While youre breakin down my back n I been rackin out my brain
It dont matter how we make it
Cause it always ends the same
You can push it for more mileage
But your flaps r wearin thin
And I could sleep on it til mornin
But this nightmare never ends
Dont forget to call my lawyers
With ridiculous demands
An you can take the pity so far
But its more than I can stand
Cause this couchtrips gettin older
Tell me how long has it been
Cause 5 years is forever
An you havent grown up yet

You could be mine
But youre way out of line
With your bitch slap rappin
And your cocaine tongue
You get nuthin done
I said you could be mine
You should be
You could be mine

Yeah!
